Our church has long been committed to serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Historically, one of the primary ways we've done that is through hosting MCREST (Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) guests in our building, however MCREST recently ended their rotating shelter program. So, since our commitment to serve our neighbors remains the same, we will pivot in line with MCREST's request to serve the women and children in their on-site shelter program.
This service opportunity needs people to be comfortable in the kitchen and understand the flow of meal service. You will be responsible for setting up meal service, cleaning the kitchen, and ensuring everything is finished in the evening and ready for breakfast service the next morning. After the kitchen is cleaned, you're able to stay and spend quality time with guests as they finish dinner and take part in programming.
